New Taiwan Gambling Laws
At last it looks like casinos will finally make their way to Taiwan. The nation has finally annulled the prohibition on Taiwan casinos which has been implemented in the country for at least a quarter of a century. The drafting of the new Taiwanese gambling laws is being looked forward to with great anticipation. The new casino bills package was passed in the Taiwanese parliament with a solid 71-26 majority and Taiwan will now have mega-casinos similar to the ones you can find in Singapore. Construction of the casinos will begin only after the approval of the local residents via a referendum. Taiwan has gotten real close to the realization of the casino dream and all it will take now is the President Ma Ying Jeou’s signature on the bill to make it law which will happen in the next three months. Although the signing of the bill will make a world of difference and will finally legalize casinos in Taiwan, only a limited number of licenses will be issued which will be somewhere between two and four according to the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communication. Each license will be valid for a period of 10 to 30 years.
